Promoting Sustainability
To align with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote a sustainable campus, Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) established the "Sustainable Development Committee of Ming Chi University of Technology" in 2023. The Committee convenes at least once every semester and may hold additional meetings as needed. Its responsibilities include formulating sustainable development goals and strategies for MCUT, reviewing, approving, and assessing the effectiveness of sustainable development action plans, and approving cross-unit sustainable development working teams.
The Sustainable Development Committee of Ming Chi University of Technology is chaired by the Sustainable Development Chief appointed by the President of MCUT. Ex-officio members include the Vice President, Secretary-general, Academic Affairs Director, Student Affairs Director, General Affairs Director, Research and Development Director, Library and Information Director, International Affairs Director, Deans of the various Colleges, Director of the General Education Center, Director of the Personnel Office, and Director of the Environmental Safety Office.
The committee also includes elected members recruited for their knowledge of sustainable development projects and green energy and buildings. Members serve a two-academic-year term, which can be extended. At least one-third of the committee members are composed of each gender. All positions are unpaid.
The Sustainable Development Office assists in promoting sustainability initiatives, coordinates resources among departments, offices, and teaching units, and handles administrative affairs. The Director of the Institutional Research Center also serves as the Executive Secretary of the Committee and Director of the Sustainable Development Office.
Proposals concerning MCUT's sustainable development must be submitted to the Board of Directors alongside institutional development plans and budgets. Major events and resolutions will be documented in the board meeting minutes and published on MCUT's website under the Institutional and Financial Public Information page.
