Philosophy and Goals in Running MCUT

The motto of MCUT is “diligence and frugality”.  The meaning of diligence is not only to work hard and conscientiously, but also to know how to do correct and useful things.  When following the motto, our students should accumulate useful experience, increase their wisdom and boost their self-confidence.  Only by living a frugal life can lead students to concentrate on the pursuit of their goals without distractions.  On this basis, as long as students possess good professional knowledge and skills, they shall become useful talents as expected.

Education is the foundation of a country. Considering its significance, MCUT adheres to the spirit of striving for “excellence” in all aspects, including administration of university affairs, teaching and research, university-industry collaboration, as well as cultivation of students’ personality.  Students are expected to keep improving in everything, and striving for self-improvement.  MCUT hopes to continuously cultivate professional talents with good character so as to meet the needs of industrial and economic development.

In order to realize its vision, MCUT sets the education goals: “to cultivate talents with hardworking and frugal attitudes, equal emphasis on theories and practices, and lifelong learning ability, with the purpose of holistic education”.  Not only cultivating students with professional competence and competitiveness, MCUT also emphasizes the importance of humanistic care.  We hope to cultivate talents who are content, grateful, well-behaved, optimistic, proactive, and can use what they have learned to serve the public.  These educational goals are embodied in three aspects of competence in the students: their attitudes, literacy and social accomplishment.  Regrading students’ attitudes, the students are cultivated to have hardworking and frugal attitudes.  Regrading their literacy, professional theories and practices are equally emphasized.  And regrading their social accomplishment, students are trained to have lifelong learning skills.  These aspects are for the goals of fulfilling the social responsibilities of the university, and establishing a new model of technical and vocational education in Taiwan.
