MCUT advances SDG 14 by safeguarding marine and estuarine ecosystems: working with government, communities, and on-/off-campus partners to conduct rapid screening of riverine waste in the Tamsui River and publish hotspot maps to strengthen coordinated cleanups; expanding water-quality monitoring and public disclosure; promoting kayak-based environmental education; and organizing a “Mudflat Clean-up” in the Luzhou tidal flats to remove mangrove (Kandelia obovata) seedlings and litter—protecting estuarine habitats and waterbirds, enhancing community participation, and jointly safeguarding blue ecosystems.
