12.2.4 Policy waste disposal - landfill policy(2024)

MCUT establishes the relevant procedures based on the Ministry of Environment’s Waste Disposal Act and in the context of the ISO 14001 management system. On-campus general waste is divided into recyclable waste and rubbish. The removal and disposal of recyclables is entrusted to an outsourcing contractor approved by the competent authorities. Their types and weights are handled in accordance with the “Procedures for Management and Reward and Punishment of Proceeds from Resource Recovery and Disposal.” The rubbish is removed by an operator approved by the government and transported to the government’s incineration plant for incineration and burial. To reduce the total amount of waste, MCUT organizes second-hand bazaars to encourage the reuse of goods. In 2024, non-recyclable waste incinerated totaled 222 metric tons, recyclable waste (including batteries) totaled 77.66 metric tons, and second-hand goods totaled 550 pcs.
