11.4.5 Affordable housing for students(2024)
There are a total of 1,760 beds in the men’s dormitory and 887 beds in the women’s dormitory, sufficient to accommodate all students. In response to the government’s subsidy policy, the undergraduate students’ accommodation is free of charge starting from 2024. Each bed costs TWD 4,000–5,000 per semester (about 4.5 months) for the master’s and doctoral degree program students, much lower than the rent charged outside the campus which costs TWD 5,000–9,000. The monthly rental cost is about 25% of that for the same size accommodation in the same district. MCUT charges the lowest rent per semester among all universities throughout the nation. The school dormitory is also equipped with Wi-Fi, washing machine, dryer, food heating facilities and washlets, as well as lounges and space for hanging out clothes. MCUT also provides free accommodation for 81% of international students.
