Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) demonstrated outstanding performance in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, securing the 96th position globally in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals. This international recognition affirms MCUT’s remarkable achievements in fostering global collaboration, cross-sectoral dialogue, and education for sustainable development, highlighting the university’s steadfast commitment to sustainability.

MCUT actively advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a wide range of international and interdisciplinary initiatives. In a landmark collaboration, MCUT signed a tripartite agreement with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corporation to jointly accelerate the development of lithium battery and electric commercial vehicle production lines, promoting a transition to green energy. Furthermore, the university partnered with the Society of Wilderness to conduct a comprehensive survey of waste in the Tamsui River. The study revealed that 68% of the waste consisted of single-use plastics such as containers, providing critical data to support upstream plastic reduction policies and demonstrating MCUT’s tangible impact on environmental conservation.

In the area of sustainability education, since 2021, MCUT has incorporated SDG-related concepts into its academic curriculum, covering topics such as green energy, circular economy, and climate change. Through general education and mandatory internship courses, students are equipped with practical skills to implement sustainable practices. In addition, MCUT collaborates with government agencies to revise second-generation native language teaching materials and promotes the “SDG-themed English Storytelling Community Service Program,” which aims to enhance local children's sustainability awareness and English proficiency.

President Tsu-Hua Liu of MCUT stated:
Our university’s global ranking of 96th in SDG 17 demonstrates international recognition of our sustained efforts in promoting global partnerships and sustainability education. Moving forward, MCUT will continue to expand international collaboration, strengthen local engagement, and advance academic research, educational innovation, and sustainable development to fulfill our social responsibility and commitment to the SDGs.
