【Event Information】 March 22 - Earth Hour: Let the Earth Rest for One Hour and Give the World the Power to Move Forward!

publish date : 2025-03-21

As environmental awareness rises, preventing global warming and addressing climate change have gradually become social movements. Every year, the Earth Hour event attracts numerous businesses to actively participate, leveraging their influence to encourage more people to join the movement by simply turning off lights and reducing carbon emissions to protect the planet. Beyond the event itself, businesses can extend their commitment beyond this one hour, continuously fostering corporate social responsibility and working together to create a better home for all.

Earth Hour was initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, using the act of turning off lights to urge the public to take climate change seriously. O’right is one of the few non-NPO organizations worldwide authorized by the WWF Earth Hour Team to co-promote this initiative.

In Taiwan, the 2024 Earth Hour event successfully saved 289,000 kW of electricity—a historic record—resulting in a total carbon reduction of 143 metric tons. The Global Views ESG Alliance, comprising 43 corporate and university members, produced response videos to amplify the impact and call on stakeholders across sectors to participate in the lights-off action.

Let’s not limit environmental protection to just special occasions! Dedicate a crucial 60 minutes to the planet and start making a difference through small, everyday actions to safeguard our home together!
