At the 2024 Ministry of Education "Technical and Vocational Excellence" Awards Ceremony, Ming Chi University of Technology was honored with the "Competition Excellence Award" for its team-designed projects: "RVVS Remote Veterinary Consultation System," "Uterus Examiner," and "SWC Windbreak Water Collector." This award recognizes faculty and students who have won international skill-based competitions during the academic year.
Students Liu and Zeng from the Industrial Design Department at Ming Chi University of Technology achieved multiple prestigious international design awards. Their project, the "RVVS Remote Veterinary Consultation System," assists veterinarians in conducting remote consultations for large livestock using AI-assisted recognition, addressing the shortage of veterinary professionals. This project won the 2024 iF Design Award "AWARD WINNER." Another project, the "Uterus Examiner," enables women to conduct a simple uterine examination using sanitary pads, allowing early detection of abnormalities. This innovation earned the 2024 Red Dot Design Award. Meanwhile, the "SWC Windbreak Water Collector" aids the growth of immature trees by providing water while also acting as a wind barrier to prevent young trees from being blown over by strong winds. This project received an Honorable Mention at the 8th American Architecture Prize in 2023.
The winning students expressed their gratitude to their teammates, saying, "Through repeated discussions, we demonstrated strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities." Liu added, "We supported each other in overcoming challenges. This journey not only taught me how to communicate and collaborate effectively but also deepened my appreciation for the power of teamwork." The students hope to continue their passion for design in the future, exploring more ways to solve societal issues and using innovative design to bring positive change to the world.
Ming Chi University of Technology emphasized that receiving the Ministry of Education's "Competition Excellence Award" is not only a testament to the students' hard work but also reflects the university's long-term efforts in promoting design thinking, innovative teaching, and professional education. Since 2017, the university has continuously been recognized as a "Technical and Vocational Excellence" recipient. Looking ahead, the university will further its commitment to promoting practical and innovative education, striving to be a model for technical and vocational education.
