Get to Know MCUT

Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT), formerly Ming Chi Technical College, is located at the foothill of Guizili Village in Taishan District, New Taipei City.  MCUT has an area of 62 hectares.  Over 200 years ago, during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, the old site of Ming Chi Academy founded by Mr. Zhuo-You Hu, a tribute student from the southern Fujian Province, was adjacent to the current site of MCUT.  At that time a lot of distinguished talents and cultural elements were gathered here, so it could be called the birthplace of culture in northern Taiwan.  In 1963 Mr. Yung-Ching Wang and Mr. Yung-Tsai Wang, founded Ming Chi Technical College.  They named the technical college “Ming Chi” with the purpose to encourage teachers and students to follow the examples of sages, and take responsibility of carrying on the heritage for the future.  Today this cultural attraction has become the cradle for cultivating outstanding scientific and technological talents. Over the years, MCUT has gained full support from the Board of Directors as well as great efforts from our faculty and colleagues.  We continue to recruit outstanding researchers, integrate on-campus research teams, and combine the Innovation Incubation Center with the manufacturers in the industrial areas nearby.  As a result, MCUT has jointly built a regional university-industry collaboration platform.  Because of our persistence in the exquisite school-managing concepts, more than 34,000 alumni have graduated so far.  In the “Taiwan’s Best University Ranking” published by the Global New Monthly in 2021, MCUT was ranked the 16th in the Category of Taiwan’s Comprehensive Universities, the 4th in the Category of Taiwan’s Universities of Science and Technology, and even the 1st in the Category of Private Universities of Science and Technology.  In addition, among the public and private universities of science and technology in Taiwan, MCUT was the only one being included in the World University Rankings 2022 announced by the Times Higher Education (THE) for the subject of Physical Sciences.
