【Exchange Information】VCD Class of 114 Graduation Exhibition “Roll!”—Roll! Without rolling, there is no motion. All things Roll.

update date : 2025-06-19

The Department of Visual Communication Design at Ming Chi University of Technology held the “Class of 114 Graduation Exhibition – Campus Debut” from April 8 to April 10, at the first-floor plaza of the university’s Innovation Building. This year’s theme, “Roll”, was inspired by the idea that movement drives progress—"Roll, and you move; without rolling, nothing moves. Everything rolls." The main visual identity transforms the Chinese character "滾" (roll) into both English text and graphic forms, symbolizing the graduates’ diverse creativity and unstoppable momentum. Several projects also respond to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing cultural, social, and environmental issues, reflecting a commitment to social responsibility through design.

A total of 11 projects are showcased in the exhibition. Among them, “Button Blessings” won the Bronze Award in the A' Design Award and Competition (Italy) under the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, transforming folk beliefs into contemporary visuals and exploring cultural innovation (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities). “Shape of Heart” received the Silver Award in the Muse Design Awards (USA) under Experimental Product Design, visually representing emotions such as love and pressure (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being). “Zoom into Plastic” was selected as a finalist for the 2025 Golden Pin Design Award, under the Circular Design category, using bio-based pink plastic to encourage eco-conscious consumption (SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production).

Other notable projects focus on social and human issues, such as “Blind Spot No.419”, which explores the world from a colorblind perspective (SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities); “Remnant Scale”, which reveals the ecological crisis of endangered fish through microscopic visuals (SDG 14: Life Below Water); and “Stuck on You”, a metaphor for the emotional pressure and expectations experienced during personal growth (SDG 3).

This graduation exhibition will also be featured at the 2025 Young Designers’ Exhibition (YODEX) from May 9 to 12, at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2, 4F, Booth D-06. With diverse viewpoints and cross-disciplinary expression, the Class of 114 showcases the next generation of designers who are deeply engaged with social, cultural, and sustainable issues—rolling design forward into the future.
