Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT), in response to stakeholder concerns and to deepen sustainable governance, has conducted a materiality assessment and analysis for its 2024 Sustainability Report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. Based on the results of 491 valid questionnaires, the university evaluated its impacts across governance, environmental, and social aspects, identifying 12 core material topics. Additionally, on April 1, 2025, the university’s administrative council resolved to disclose 3 supplementary topics closely tied to campus development, bringing the total to 15 material topics that form the foundation for the university’s sustainability reporting.
The 12 material topics identified through the survey include:
Industry-Academia Collaboration
University Governance
Innovation and Research Development Outcomes
Talent Attraction and Retention
Marketing and Recruitment Strategies
Learning Environment and Effectiveness
Academic and Administrative Quality
Information Security and Personal Data Protection
Campus Health and Safety
Educational Opportunities and Accessibility
Energy Consumption and Management
Hazardous Substance Management
To align with global sustainability trends and the university’s unique context, the administrative council approved the addition of three supplementary material topics:
Biodiversity
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
University Social Responsibility (USR) Practices
The identification of material topics serves as a critical foundation for MCUT’s sustainability management. These 15 topics will guide the disclosures in this year’s Sustainability Report. The university will continue to engage stakeholders through open communication, and, under the guiding philosophy of "Practicality and Innovation," advance ESG values by integrating education, research, industry collaboration, and social responsibility. MCUT remains committed to making a meaningful social impact and building a resilient and responsible sustainable campus.
